Hi everyone, it’s been a while and I’m sorry I haven’t posted anything in such a long time. I have tried to write a new post for around a week now, but writing that post has just not really been working out for me yet. It’s about a controversial topic and I just can’t find the right words yet to talk about it, to address it and to share my opinion about it. I will still post it though, soon. I would also like to write about more controversial topics. I find it very interesting to bring up and write about such topics. But more of that soon. Today I have a short story for you of something funny that happened to me yesterday.
It’s a Tuesday night. Tomorrow it’s Valentine’s day. I’m still single and I’m totally fine with that. I actually am more at peace with being single than I’ve been ever before. Maybe you think that me admitting this is a little stupid, but that’s not what I think. In this world, we’re living in nowadays, being single is often showed as something sad and lonely. And that is just not true! Not being in a relationship gives you all the time to focus on yourself. You have all the time to get to know yourself better and you can learn to love yourself (more). It gives you the chance to grow so much as a person. Since Valentine’s Day is all about love, but I’m not in a relationship, from this year on mine will be all about self-love.
This afternoon when I was on my way back home from school, I bought myself flowers at the train station. I choose a bouquet of red/yellowish roses. I just put them in a vase with water in it, so that on Valentine’s Day, I will wake up to the sight of roses. Maybe you’re laughing at me right now and I don’t blame you. I know it sounds a little weird, but I think it’s important to show myself some love and this is my way of doing that. I am also planning on writing myself a love letter tomorrow, that I’ll open next year on Valentine’s Day. It’s important to love yourself.
What are your plans for Valentine’s Day? I would love to hear about it. Have a beautiful day!
I have some very exciting news to tell you! I’ve been nominated for the sunshine blogger award by blogger Rina from Rina Sees. The sunshine blogger award is given to a blogger that inspires positivity and creativity in the blogging community. So it really is an honor to be nominated for this award. It’s especially an honor to be nominated by Rina because I discovered her blog not too long ago and she has become one of my favorite bloggers. I would really recommend checking out her blog ➡️ Rina Sees
It’s only a few more days till 2017 is officially over and I just can’t believe it! I feel like the year has passed by so fast. So much has happened last year. And there were so many things that I had never seen coming. There have been sad times. But I’ve also experienced a lot of good things and I’ve made many new amazing friends. I’ve learned a lot and I’ve grown as a person. I share a lot on Instagram. I love that app. I love it that it gives me the ability to express myself through photography and to get to know new people. Today I want to tell you some more about my 2017 by telling you the stories behind my nine most liked Instagram pictures.
Nowadays, snowfall is something very rare in The Netherlands. I know from childhood memories that there have been times that it used to be different, that there would be winters so cold that we could ice skate on our town’s lake. But now everything has changed and I know it’s because of climate change. The thought of that saddens me. Climate change is something I do want to talk about, but that will be in another blogpost. This one is going to be about the lovely snowy weather I’ve experienced the past weekend. Let me show you a beautiful, magical winter wonderland.
Summer. It feels like forever ago. Still, I can remember it like it was yesterday. I have done some really fun things last summer, that I haven’t shared anywhere yet. So a few days ago I came up with the idea to share my yet unshared adventures of last summer. And there are lots of beautiful pictures included.
Last summer holiday I went to Bulgaria for two weeks. But it wasn’t like any vacation I had ever been on before, I volunteered in an orphanage there. Before I went there I didn’t really know what to expect and I was overall very curious about how much I would like it there. Well, I can you tell now that it was like nothing I had ever expected.
Welcome to my new blog. Maybe you already knew me before this blog and maybe you didn’t. I used to have a Dutch blog, but I decided that I wanted to start all over again with a blog in English, which is this one. My name is Margriet and I’m a 17 years old girl from The Netherlands with a passion for writing and exploring new things. I love adventures, it doesn’t matter if they’re big or small, adventures make life more fun. This is also the reason why I named my blog ‘An Adventurer At Heart’. It’s because this blog is about me and I feel like that those words describe me the best. I’ll be back within a few days (it actually might even be tomorrow) with my first real blogpost. Thank you for reading this!
