It’s only a few more days till 2017 is officially over and I just can’t believe it! I feel like the year has passed by so fast. So much has happened last year. And there were so many things that I had never seen coming. There have been sad times. But I’ve also experienced a lot of good things and I’ve made many new amazing friends. I’ve learned a lot and I’ve grown as a person. I share a lot on Instagram. I love that app. I love it that it gives me the ability to express myself through photography and to get to know new people. Today I want to tell you some more about my 2017 by telling you the stories behind my nine most liked Instagram pictures.
Before I’m going to tell you something about the pictures, I first have to tell you something about my Instagram account(s). This year Instagram added ‘the poll’ function, that you can put in your Instagram stories. I loved the idea of it! Now there was only one little problem: when I viewed stories with a poll in it, I couldn’t vote myself because my phone somehow automatically did that for me. My phone always chose the right side and I couldn’t find how to change it anywhere. And this was a huge problem for me because I voted things that I didn’t mean to vote at all. It really sucked. I basically felt like I had lost control, which was also kind of true. I only saw one more option and that was starting a new Instagram account. This was a hard decision to make but I knew I had to if I wanted full control back. So that’s what I did. This all happened at the beginning of October. So that’s the reason that the Instagram posts in this blogpost are from two different accounts.
Now we can finally start! This is the first photo I posted on my new account and it was taken by my mom on the Dutch beach of Zandvoort last summer. Last summer we didn’t have a very warm summer in The Netherlands, but there were some days that it would just be warm enough to go to the beach. And on those days I took my chance and went. One of those days was in the last week of my summer break. My little sister had already gone back to school, but I still had one more free week. On that day my mom and I spontaneously decided to go to the beach, because the weather turned out to be better than expected. This picture was taken on the boulevard next to the beach.
This summer I went to Bulgaria to volunteer there in an orphanage for two weeks, which was an absolutely amazing experience. I loved it so much that I’m going back next year! On one of our free days during those two weeks, we went to the Belogradchik fortress. Behind the fortress are the Belogradchik rocks. rocks are enormous and breathtakingly beautiful. On this picture I was sitting on one of the rocks, taking in the fresh air and enjoying the view.
This year I also graduated secundary school! Which also means that I’m now in university. And it’s a tradition in The Netherlands that when you have graduated (secundary) school you put up the Dutch flag with your school bag hanging on it, so that everyone knows you graduated. It was a happy day.
Here’s another post with some pictures from the day I went to the beach of Zandvoort. There’s not much more to tell about it since I’ve already told you most about it, but I do want to say that I just love how these pictures turned out to look after editing them. Good editing can make such a difference.
Travelling. It leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller. ❤️❤️❤️ Pretty view 😍 #belogradchik #bulgaria #nature #beautiful #beautyofnature #rocks #rocky #hiking #summer #summer2017 #vsco #photography #dslrphotography #view #mountains #adventure #travel #explore #wanderlust #sky #houses #town #belogradchikfortress #nature
And here’s yet another breathtaking picture that was taken from the rocks of Belogradchik in Bulgaria. In this picture you can see the town of Belogradchik in between the rocks and the mountains. I love it how looks so peaceful, located in the middle of nature.
Because it was my last year of secondary school I also had my prom. I was so happy with my dress! I bought it on Asos so it wasn’t even that expensive. And I loved it. It was navy blue which is one of my favourite colours. There is also something I want to tell about my hair. It takes a lot of work to get and keep my hair curly because my hair is very heavy and because of that curls in my hair fall out quickly. So to get my hair looking like this for the whole night, I wore my hair in two tight buns on my head for like two days and this was the result (here is a link to the method I used). I was happy with the result because the curls stayed like this all night.
The thing that I love the capture the most is either a sunset or a sunrise, but because I don’t like waking up early, I take much more pictures of sunsets. Here is another beautiful picture of a sunset that I captured this summer. I was sitting in the backyard of my house at the garden table and from the corner of my eye, I saw that slowly the sun was starting to set. After a while, it looked like this and whenever I spot a beautiful sunset, I have to take a picture of it. I think that’s my thing, capturing as many sunsets as possible. I love how every sunset is different from all the ones I’ve seen before. There’s so much beauty to them.
Here is an outfit that I posted that I liked very much. It kind of reminded me of Parisian fashion because of the striped tee and the beret.
The last picture is a throwback to when I was on a school trip to London. It was the last night we were there and with friends, I went to a pizza restaurant and this was my order.
So that was my 2017 in Instagram pictures. I had an amazing year in which I got to experience a lot Of course these are just the good things. This is not my whole 2017. I have been trough bad times that I haven’t shared on social media. We all go through bad times and just because we don’t share it on social media, doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. Whenever you’re feeling bad or sad, that could be today or some other day in the future, please acknowledge it and don’t deny it. It’s okay not to be okay. I’m planning on making an advice post for when you’re feeling bad or sad soon. Please hold on, because everything will be okay. Thank you for reading another blogpost of mine. I’m very grateful for my readers!
